DESCRIPTIVE URLS

In some cases you can achieve better relevancy and better listings by naming your URLs in a description fashion, or by including keywords in the URL name. The following webpages include keywords as part of URL name:

    www.discount-vacations.com/maui.html
    www.z56.com/manufacturing/plastics.html
    www.excitingtours.com/jungles/amazon.html

These long URLs are seldom typed by users. They are usually clicked on from search engines or links on other sites.

A great way to add keywords is to use additional directories:

www.sports-stuff.com/baseball/athletes
/hall_of_fame/1962/baberuth.html

Subpage Linking

When designing your website, make sure that your main page includes links to all your subpages, and all subpages link to all other pages. This will help insure that when search engine spiders analyze your website, they find all of your sub pages.

Most spiders cannot read image maps. So if you use image maps for your navigation system, you'll need to put a text-only menu at the bottom of the page to accommodate the spiders. If you don't, the spiders will not be able to follow the links to your other pages and they won't get indexed.
