Your logo to be styled as:
illustration
Plus
Points:
An
illustrative logo is probably the most popular type
of logo design because it usually looks very cool.
High in color and in design skill an illustrative
logo always looks like money well spent. People think
your design looks great and that you must have paid
a fortune.
Negative Points:
Can
look really bad if the designer does not have the
right skills (We do have the right skills). Hard
to make the colors, fonts and illustration work together.
After initial WOW factor has worn off the design
can be hard to remember. Can seem too busy. Very
expensive to print and not suitable for all uses
like fax machine for instance. Can incur large redesign
fees to cope with the limitations mentioned above.
emblem/iconic

Plus
Points:
Very
popular style with new businesses and high tech's.
Clean and professional. Modern and memorable. These
are terms you would associate with an iconic type
logo if designed well. Often the emblem/icon represents
in some way, very obviously, something about the
business. Fonts and colors can work very well with
the emblem. Requires a good knowledge of the clients
market and a graphic designer with a deep understanding
of fonts and colors. Easy to print and to brand the
business.
Negative Points:
Requires
a highly skilled design team to get the font and
color and icon to work together well. Can look like
a piece of clipart and text if not designed well. Can
go out of fashion
very easily (Think ball and swoosh of the late 1990s
early 2000s). Can be a very cryptic design often
seemingly meaning nothing. Can seem too clever.
text
based
Plus
Points:
This
is the design style preferred by the big
league. Fortune 500 companies prefer the
text based logo design. It feels clean
and strong and the design can last a lifetime.
Easy to remember. Not based on fads and
fashions. Designed well a text based logo
design usually consists of more than just
a standard everyday font. The font would
normally be rare and something would usually
be done by the designer to make the logo
intelligent and memorable. Often subtle.
Very easy to brand and low cost to print.
Negative Points:
Really
hard to make a font work as a logo. Requires
a designer with a very deep understanding
of fonts. Can seem weak if designed poorly.
Please pick a feel for your logo (check
all that apply):
IMPORTANT: How many colors should the logo have? Please pay particular
attention to this question as there are cost implications
for printing based on the choice you make. For 1, 2,
3 and 4 color logo design work we use Pantone spot color.
For all illustrations we use unlimited CMYK process color
(the unlimited color option below) which can be expensive
to print. If you want an illustration style design and
you also want stationery design you may find that the
cost of printing the logo is very expensive for say envelopes.
If we need to convert your design to 1, 2, 3 or 4 color
spot color later on because you have not considered the
printing implications there will be additional charges
based on the design. If in doubt check with your local
printer before ordering.
